Alienware 17 r2 LCD Panel
Has anyone else had problems with their LCD Panels....I had to send in to replace the LCD panel on my brand new Alienware 17r2 not even a month old. But the only thing is that when I got it back, it's now messed up on the other side of the screen....I know they replaced it but do you think it's just really bad luck or if this is a bigger problem with others. I had the 1080p FHD 17" panel on my Alienware 17 r2. Haven't sent it back again because I want to use my laptop for a little bit lol.
Problems/Symptoms: LCD glitched out the first time with vertical solid lines, but only about 1/3 of the left part of the screen....after that...if an image stayed on the upper left corner for more than about 5 minutes (desktop icons) when you would go back to the lock screen....on some Blues you could still see the ghosted (temp) burn in images of the icons. New LCD panel, same problem (except other side of screen now) but now there is a yellowish glow on the bottom right corner that can really be seen on black/dark screens.
Also this happened after I updated the BIOS to A02, before I used for about a week with no problems. (no proof this is the problem of course)
Anyhow, if anyone else has had problems with theAlienware 17 r2 LCD screens, please post here.
Setup: Alienware 17 r2 i7-4980hq, 8GB Ram, 1TB HDD,GTX 980m, 1080p FHD LCD, Bios A02

No, I guess no one else seems to be having a similar problem so it must be just mine, it's under warranty until 2019 so I'll probably submit a repair/fix ticket in a few months...but since I just got it back from repair I wanted to get some bonding in with it first lol. It's noticable on black screens with the yellow side light bleed, and the ghosting is mainly only if I go to a certain color...but eitherway I can call it in anytime so I'm not too worried about it. Just was curious if anyone else had the same/similar problem with this model. Guess just got a bad one....or two since it's been repaired already :p

I had a similar issue with the mid -2013 Alienware 17, on my 3rd LCD screen. Coloured lines showing on the screen, but the LCD passing the self test.

Hi, if you have light leaking from the sides of the screen then it's most probable a faulty LCD panel.
I have a Alienware 17 last week with the exact same problem.
It "could be the LVDS (LCD) cable or motherboard connection, but my first guess is the LCD panel.

I have the same problem With R2 17 Alienware laptop. Initially the left third of the screen was a bit faded and then I noticed the ghost effect of icons remaining on screen. After a few days of looking for solution he whole third of the screen is now black with nothing showing.
Did the boot up LCD test (screen showing different colors) and the screen is still blank.
So I am guessing it is the screen - wondering what the solution others found to this error.
