Alienware 18 OS Installed on Wrong Drive
I finally received my Alienware 18 after what was the worst Dell ordering experience I've encountered in 20 years. Right away I noticed the factory techs installed the OS on the wrong drive, opting for the 1TB HD rather than the 512GB SSD.
Has anyone else experienced this and what was your fix? I tried installing to the SSD using the recovery media and then thought I'd change the boot order and drive letters, but Dell's installation disk doesn't allow me to specify a target drive.

Hi,
Which Windows operating system are you using with your Alienware? If you boot from the disk and follow the instructions, it should eventually ask if you want to do an Upgrade or Custom install, so you have to choose Custom. After this you can delete the current partitions and create a new primary partition on your SSD.

Image Backup entire Drive (C: and other partitions).
Temporarily Remove C: (1tb spinner HDD) and leave only SSD installed.
Restore all Partitions to only drive currently in system (the SSD)
After satisfied, reinstall spinner HDD (should detect as D:)
You can try something similar with Recovery Media.
