Yes, same problem ... the software (and motherboard) is having a problem communicating with the MIO-Board and/or the MIO-Board's config is corrupt.

1. Try the power-off reset procedure described in the other thread.

2. Also do the Dell Diags MIO-Board tests (sometimes that will reset the MIO Board)

3. Disconnect and re-connect the cable from motherboard USB-1 header and the other end of that cable that connects to MIO-board (MB_USB)

4. Do what ever work-around you do to get it to work. Then go into both Thermal Controller (fans) AlienFX (lights), make a small change, and re-save and Apply to save the new config data. Give the machine about 5 minutes to update the config on the MIO-board itself.

Well, I called up the Alienware support and talked to Alejandro.  He helped me update the bios to A11 and the Command Center to the newest version.  I haven't had the problem since then. (It's only been a day though... so we'll see if it is truly gone.)  Anyway, if the problem comes back, I'll definitely give your suggestions a try.
