Alienware M14X problems.
Hey guys,
I have been having problems with this laptop since a week I bought it (August 2012). The problems included overheating, screen tearing in easy-to-play games (Minecraft, Team Fortress 2), and the most annoying, being screen tearing and sound card problems. Right now, as I am writing this letter, I cannot even touch the area in front of the M14X as it is scalding hot.
I have spent 10+ hours in Dell support, which did not help me very much, and while they did replace my heatsink and sound card, it did not do anything.
Recently, I have seen problems running basic programs as Google Chrome, and extremely slow opening of webpages.
As with games, I cannot play any as Dota 2 runs with 5-6 FPS with the lowest graphical settings.
Worst part is, I was promised a One year warranty, and it ended April 8th. August 12th to April 8th? Yeah. Thats barely 7 months.
I am extremely tired of this computer and Dell support in general, and I don't think I deserve running to other PC-Fix services, when I payed 2000SGD on this.

Call customer service, give them the service tag and then all information you have to prove the date of purchase. They will talk to you.

If it's overheating then that can cause everything that is happening. You should contact Dell again and provide a bill of sale or something that can prove when you bought it so you get your warranty back. You should have 2 months left from what you are saying.

No, before even someone answers my call, it says "Please type in your service tag, it should be located at the bottom of your computer"

Honestly, If I could I would. The second I call them they ask me for my service tag.

Are you in the US? Call 1-800-624-9897 and give them your order number. You need to call during normal business hours. They will have all the info you need to prove when you made your purchase. If they do not or if it's not correct then you need to provide your copy. They will tell you what to do.

Call sales then and get transferred to customer care. Enter your service tag too, it doesn't matter and will not prevent customer care from speaking with you.
Once you get them explain that your warranty should still be active and provide everything they need. Order number, Service Tag, Express Service Code, Blood Type lol. Give them all your info so they can get to the bottom of it. If they show a wrong order date then you will need to show them your records such as bank statements, shipping orders, invoice and such. It's not hard to do.
Keep in mind though that your warranty begins the moment the order was completed ( check your invoice ) and not when you received the system. So if it took 2 months for the system to be delivered then that would be your problem.

Edit: Buzzing noise stopped now, but I can't really play any game with low graphical settings, example Team Fortress 2, without getting maybe 1-2 FPS. Honestly I stopped playing games for a couple of weeks because it's hopeless. I tried playing without the charger, and that worked fine, but the laptop only has like a 1.5 hour battery. Dell I am really dissapointed in your service and products.

Hi Thekristboss,
I recommend you to re-flash the BIOS to the latest for your system. If you would like to get your hands dirty, follow the steps on this article to apply new thermal grease.
