Alienware m17x r3

While i was gaming, i noticed a sudden fps drop and i couldnt find the reason why..... i downloaded Hwinfo64 and noticed that my cpu was at 90 C' ...... and ofcourse my fans did not work ..... the strange thing is that i discovered that if i set the values on my own , fans start working, but that requires me to have hwinfo always open + with values that are probably not the best / designed for my laptop.....  how do i "fix" this ?

thanks !

Hi nikpower19,

Thank you for your reply and for providing an update on the status. You will need to the release any static charge from the system by following the steps provided below:

1. Shutdown the computer.
2. Remove the AC Adapter and the battery.
3. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds and release it.
4. Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter and check if the fan works properly.

You will need to reinstall Command Center if the steps provided above fails to fix the issue.

Please let me know if yo need further assistance.

Hi nikpower19,

I appreciate your efforts to fix the issue. I suggest you to clean the airvents with a can of compressed air and update the BIOS to the latest version. You can download the BIOS by punching in the Service Tag by visiting the following link:

Hi nikpower19,

Thank you for providing an update on the status and I am glad to know that the issue has been fixed. The static electricity in the laptop could have caused the sensor, not to register the values properly and started working properly when is was released.
