Alienware M17X-R4 "No Audio Output Device is Installed" when booted up using power supply.
I bought my Alienware M17X-R4 back in 2012 and have had the problem since day 1.
This problem only happens to me when I boot up with the power plugged in. If I boot it up on battery power my sound works fine. I called customer support and explained this to them in detail and was sent a box to ship it back to them.
I sent my M17X-R4 back in with a very detailed note explaining that the sound works as long as its booted up while NOT plugged into the power supply. I got it back 3 days later with nothing in the box but the laptop. NO PAPERWORK WHATSOEVER. No explanation of anything that was done. I'm guessing they booted it up on battery without ever plugging it in, saw the sound was working fine, and sent it back. VERY poor customer service. They could easily have called me to verify what was going on for the $2400 I spent.
I was so disgusted I wasn't about to get back on the phone and go through the whole thing all over again just to get the same *** service center doing nothing whatsoever for me. I'm also not about to have my whole laptop disassembled over and over again until "I happen to get a good motherboard" which may end up having some other issue.
Just now, I plugged in my power supply and got a message saying "The A/C adapter currently connected is not supported". This is the power supply that came with my laptop from them. Being that my sound doesn't work when its booted up with it plugged in you guys who are having the issue might want to try booting without power and see what happens. I'd like to know what the power ratings for this laptop are supposed to be because it seems someone has dropped the ball.

Could you please send me a PM with your service tag and a brief description of the problem so I can check your case further?
