Hello Kujjoo,
The solution to this issue is to run the Bios update A04, found under support.dell.com. The direct link to the Bios update is: Alienware M18x Bios A05
To run the Bios, please perform these steps:
1. Download the Bios.
2. Execute the File downloaded
3. Allow the file to be executed (This option only applies if the UAC is enabled).
4. Wait for the Bios update to verify the previous and current version.
5. Flash the Bios if the version downloaded is newest than the current one installed.
6. After the bios update the computer will restart and shut down by itself.
7. Turn back ON the computer and enter the Bios, set-up again your settings (RAID, boot priority, etc.)
8. Save and Exit from the Bios
9. Load Windows Normally
Restart the computer and check the functionality and write back to us with results, I’d be glad to assist further.

kujjoo,
According to this, that is an LCD failure. The fact that you get a picture on an external monitor backs this up. If under warranty, Dell can replaced the LCD.
