Alienware Respawn, UI images missing
Hi,
I was hoping someone could help.I have an Alienware Mx17r that originally came with Windows7. I upgraded to Windows8, which corrupted - I then had to re-install. Ever since Alienware Respawn has been missing the UI images, despite an uninstall and re-install.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hi lmorse,
I'm not quite sure I understand the issue but the problem could be this: when Windows 8 is installed, the AlienRespawn factory image recovery stops working as they are not compatible.
Please provide the specific model of your system and a brief explanation of the exact issue that you are experiencing.

Hi,
Thanks for contacting me Natalia. I'll try to explain more succinctly.
My issue is that the UI in AlienRespawn is missing all images, as in the picture pasted in the original message - and have been replaced by squares that say things like "IDS_HOME_001" etc. Because of this I can no longer navigate my way around the AlienRespawn product.
I am running Windows8 on an Alienware M17x R4.

You just need to uninstall it, and download it from here:
AlienRespawn for Windows 8

Hi Natalia,
I uninstalled, restarted my computer and downloaded from the link you sent. I still have the exact same issue. Images are missing, replaced by squares that say things like "IDS_HOME_001" etc as in the image above,

i have the same issue with my m14x (r1)
upgraded to Win 8 from a fresh install but cant get AlienRefresh to work correctly with either of the download links suggested.
i have a Standard HDD "ST9500423AS" 500GB

no error message no event logs, for all intensive purposes the application is working, just doesnt load the GUI correctly

Hi Systemsaint,
I just checked with our Level 3 crew and apparently, once you do a clean installation of Windows, the images created loses their link to the program and that makes them unusable. Next time, it would be better to create a media disk or a media USB to be able to re-install Windows.
