Alienware X51 BIOS A07 Problems
Hi Guys,
I recently updated my Alienware X51 to the latest BIOS available, previously I was using A06 which was amazing and worked great without any problems whatsoever. Now after updating to the newest BIOS I'm running into some problems. First, the startup fan noise has changed completely, it is much louder and shorter than before. Is this normal? Secondly, I can no longer see the Windows boot animation, instead the Alienware head remains on screen after the initial boot and goes away after the login screen loads. Again, is this the new behavior of the BIOS? However, Windows 8 startup is shockingly fast now.
Current Specs
i5 3450 - 8GB RAM - HD7850 - 1TB HDD
I have tried downgrading back to A06 but the installer wont let me downgrade.
Thanks

You should leave the BIOS alone for now. You are taking a big risk of bricking the system. Remember these words: If it works don't fix it.
Next time you want to update it you should call Dell tech support first and let them walk you through it. That way if it does fail they will pay for the motherboard replacment..

How long does the fan noise last? Is it a few seconds or does it last until you boot into Windows? If it's a few seconds then that is normal.
I'm not sure why you are no longer seeing the Windows logo but if it's much faster then before then that could be why. Maybe it was using legacy before and now it's UEFI and using fast boot or something. I really wouldn't worry about it. If you want you could try adding a login password to the system and see what it does then.
My gut is telling me everything is OK with your system.
