Alienware X51 Error: Internal hard disk drive not found...

Hello

since a couple days i'm getting an error on the screen when i boot my computer. this is the error:

Internal hard disk drive not found
to resolve this issue. try to reseat the drive.
No bootable devices.

Strike F1 to retry boot. F2 enter Setup Menu. F5 enter PSA.

If i go in the PSA i will search for boot problems. This takes like a half an hour. When it's finished my computer will reboot and then start-up normally i can log in and see bureablad etc. But when i shutdown my pc and start it the next morning it will boot up with the same error again. and this happens to me every day.

Alot of people say you have to change the Boot Mode from Legacy to UEFI. But the Boot Mode was already on UEFI.

A Picture of the Boot:

I hope some one can help me.

Hi Jeroen1990,

Welcome to the Community.

As I understand the system detects the harddrive intermittently.

If you have recently updated to BIOS A06, then it might have temporarily disabled the hard drive. Please check the link below where you can find the information to rectify the same:

If the issue still persists, then please follow the steps below in link mentioned below:

I hope it helps.

Hi Jeroen,

I appreciate the time and effort that you took to troubleshoot the issue.

Please let me know which version of windows is installed on the system. Incase,  its win 7 then would request you to change the boot mode to Legacy and then try rebooting the system.

Would also recommend you to follow the steps mentioned in the 2nd link in my last reply for troubleshooting this issue.

Thanks and Regards

Thank you for commenting again,

I have windows 7 installed. I have tried to change the boot mode to Legacy and tried to reoboot it but now it says:

"No boot device available, Press any key to reboot the system"

So that didn't work to.

and the 2nd link. i have run the PSA i get no errors. and at step 2(check if you hard drive is detected) i can't do that one because i don't have these option in my boot menu:

- Hard Disk Drive BBS Priorities

- USB Disk BBS Drive Priorities

- CD/DVD ROM Drive BBS Priorities

at step 3(boot priority): i change the 1st boot to the hard drive but i get the same error. at step 4(check RAID) i have no idea what raid is. at step 5(Restore your Computer) when i pres F8 and then start the computer in safe mode it loads some files then it restarts and the error with "Internal hard disk drive not found....." shows up again. at step 6(Fix Boot Manager) i don't get that error so i don't have to do that one.

Thank you for you helping but nothing helped.

-Jeroen.
