Alienware X51 R3 DOA

Got the Alienware X51 as a birthday present. Worked fine the night it came, and then the next day the screen started to become distorted. Red and green blotches cover the screen and flick around and on restart, horizontal white lines covered most of the screen.

Now, the PC cannot boot. After getting past the Alienware loading screen, the red and green blotches flick around on a black background and no screen elements are shown.

Please help.

Hi,

Have you tested another monitor? Try connecting your monitor on both the upper HDMI port (around the USB ports) and the bottom ports on your video card to confirm if the same thing happens.

Update: I just used ANOTHER monitor with a proper DVI-D cable (rather than the convertor) and the problem persisted, so since this is likely a hardware issue and the GPU arrived in this condition, who do I ask about replacing or refunding this?

Yes, I tested a second monitor at home and also went to Best Buy to see if they could get it working. I had only tried an HDMI when I was at home with several monitors and it did not work. When I went to Best Buy, they tried it with a DVI-D cable and the display was fixed again. I lef the store with a DVI-D plug to connect an HDMI and it worked when I got home. Shortly after, the screen tearing and lines returned.
