Aurora X58 RAM Upgrade question.

Hello,

I have an older Aurora, about 6 years old now, but still runs great. Trying to get another 18 months out of it before I replace it. It has the X58 motherboard.

It came with 6G 1333 RAM. A few years ago I upgraded to 12G 1600 RAM (3G x 4). I had to turn on XMP I believe and I set the voltage to +200mv.

Now I am finally wanting to max out the RAM at 24G, as that is the most this motherboard can use. My understanding is that with 24G, I can only use 1333 Mhz memory, and not 1600.

Can I use 3 sticks of 8G RAM? Or do I need 6 x 4G RAM? I have read conflicting things that the X58 motherboard may not read 8G sticks correctly. I would prefer 3x 8G, rather than 6x 4G. I'm not even sure if I can find 4G sticks of 1333 Ghz RAM anymore.

Thanks you

Jeff
