Bios Crash

Question

I've been getting ready to purchase a new video card soon, and I there was a recommendation by Dell to update your bios before doing so. Following a link, I was brought to the Dell website for drivers and downloads for my PC after putting in my service tag. I downloaded the (Recommended) bios update along with a few other drivers. After following the rather simple install procedure I was asked to reboot my PC, and clicked yes. It turned off, restarted, and crashed. Now non stop message 'Reboot and select Proper Boot Device'. From what I read, this is unrecoverable, and I've tried everything. I tried using a rescue disc for another PC, I've tried putting my Windows 7 disc in, I've done a diagnosis on the F12 menu, but nothing. Not exactly how I was planning to spend my birthday, but whatever, because this being Dell's responsibly, and them putting (Recommended) next to the download with no warning or instructions, I was expecting to get a replacement for my Motherboard. Then I heard.... No. Terrible thing to do Dell. The fact that you release downloads as recommended that DESTROY your hardware is beyond me. At least put a warning, because this was completely terrible. How much do these Motherboards cost for a replacement for an Alienware Aurora R4?

This happened to me also, I have the R4 as well. I found when I did the bios update it change my hard drive configuration so look for that. Make sure it's set correctly

yes, it is possible the bios update set your settings to revert to default. Some here have had a small shot at recovery by either making sure the sata controller is set to ahci mode, or boot's set from uefi to legacy. No promises there old chap
