Command Center FAQ - Method Feedback
Ok Chris thanks so much for the detailed walk through I just want to give you some feedback from a person having horrible problems with 3 week old Alien Area 51 and this Command Center.
I did your exact method 5 times to see if anything changed and to give you solid feedback based on latest A08 version and my compents. 5 out of 5 times the computer DID NOT successfully reboot after installing the Command Center. Now I'm no expert but is it possible that when the reboot fails that forced off & on could be causing something to go wrong with the drivers? Only reason I ask is all 5 times my fan settings and FX colors stay the same. Obviously my fan settings are default but I have all my lights turned to black. Should they not reset to default setup of Blue? Once again I did exactly as explained in the FAQ thread.
5 out of 5 times the PC did not reboot. (It just sits for as long as you let it at the Black/Red Alienware Background page with mouse cursing doing the circle spin and saying Shuting Down)
5 out of 5 times the AlienFX saved my color settings and did not reset.
5 out of 5 times I did not get the Terms of Use to AGREE to using the Command Center which you do get on a complete fresh install.
5 out of 5 times within a Restart after Command Center was newly installed the AlienwareFXcontroll stopped working upon restart.
Anyways I already have my IO board shipped and should get tech call by Monday I'm hoping. I just wanted to give you direct feedback from someone who took the time to use your exact method and let you know some things that might be red flags or needed to be passed on.

Just quick update, Dell tech was here today and replaced my Master IO board. Was on phone 2 hours with Alienware Tech support because Command Center was showing like controls for GPU cooler temp and strange stuff. So after yet another fresh install of A08 Command Center, with a power cycle (unplug machine and hold power for 1-2 minutes to release static) before the uninstall and after the new install. Same issues vents randomly going from mid open to full open and back an forth requently when set to Manual mid open setting. Upon restart AlienFXcontrol stopped working and now in my services window I have clones of programs running (2) AlienFXHook32Manager and (2) AlienFXHook64Manager (4) conhost.exe. Normally I only have 1 of each.
So tech support suggested if I wanted they could see if yet another IO board replacement would solve issue or possibly a new motherboard, before considering a new built system since so far with all issues they have only tried to replace the Master IO board so far. Then stated this was issue they heard about with folks and right now are chalking this up to software issue with Command Center and to just wait for update since no other programs seem to be affected.
Just want to pass this on for anyone else fustrating with similar issues.

What DP/N is on the white sticker on the MIO board?
Does it pass F12 MIO Diags?
Did you guys try using the green jumper to reset the MIO board to Factory Defaults?
Check all the cables, including the ones that go from the MIO to motherboard?
Did the tech check for +5vDC and +12vDC on the MIO board's main 4 pin power plug?
As for software, sounds like your install is getting worse. If you can't clear that out with uninstalls or reg cleaners ... to rule out software, reinstall Windows. Alternatives to that are installing to a different bootable partition or usb device.

Install Command Center 2.5.35.0. R242638.exe
It's not perfect but it works.
