Command Center Help
Hello All - I purchased an Alienware Area-51 X58 system in December 2008. This was before Dell took over Alienware. It has the original i7-940 2.93 GHz processor, 6 Gigs of tri-channel memory and the Asus X-58 P6T Deluxe motherboard. The system originally came with Vista 64 bit SP1 and I have upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate. I have also upgraded the BIOS and it is at Ver. 2209. It has the original memory, but the graphics card has been upgraded to a XFXforce Radeon HD6970.
I am seeking to obtain the Command Center software that allows a user to control the lighting scheme for the case. I have tried the original Command Center software that came with the machine, but I receive an error that the system is incompatible although I can't determine why. I've also downloaded Command Center Ver 2.8 from the Dell site. Inside the Dell/Drivers folder were 2 subfolders. Subfolder R268475 is the one that partially worked, but I receive an error to the fact that it can't see or control the thermals. I'm not too concerned about this, but my main concern is being able to set the colors for the case lighting. When I click on the AlienFX button at the bottom, nothing happens. I think I may need a previous version, but can't seem to find it.
This may seem trivial, however there are times when I cannot even tell if the machine is on because the lights go out when the system goes to sleep. When the machine wakes, they typically don't come back on. Essentially, I have no power light. My goal is to obtain software that allows me to configure the colors as I once could. If the motherboard is such that I can control the fans, that would be great as well. Can you help me? Thanks much.
Tony

Those drivers and CommandCenter are only for 2009 or newer Alienware machines. Find the old Vista-64 bit version and install it. It should work on Win-7 64-bit. Try it normal first, but you might have to set the installer.exe to Compatibility Mode before install.
All Pre-Dell Alienware support should go to Legacy Alienware Support. In the black leather binder that came with your system there is a plastic card in the front inside sleeve. Call 866-287-6727, give them your account number off of the plastic card.
Email:
EMEA = cer_aw@dell.com
Americas = support@alienware.com
Australia = anzlegacysupport@Dell.com
Drivers: support.alienware.com/.../driver_downloads.aspx
They will need the following information -

System Model:

Alienware Account Number:
Alienware Order Number:

Tesla1856 - Would you happen to know where I can find a pre 2009 version of Command Center? I've searched for several days now and have even tried to install a 2010 version for Vista64bit with the compatibility mode set to Vista64. The software loads but will not allow me to see anything related to FX Lighting. Thanks.

First, like I said before ... Legacy Alienware models have a completely different MIO-Board (hardware). Only the old (pre-Dell or "Legacy") version of Command Center for Desktops will work.
The links above is all I have. All those Legacy AW assets were acquired by Dell. If you can find an "old timer Alienware Tech support agent" (they used to be in CostaRica AW support lab) that might have the old installers.

Only other thing I can recommend is the Legacy forums at Origin. They are the people that built than machine and the Legacy owners used to support each other over there:
