I believe you are referring to Aurora-R4. The processors Dell has tested with the system are:

• I3-2120
• i7-4930K
• i7-4960X
• i7-3820
• I7-3930K
• i7-4820K
• i7-3960

So Intel i7-4960x is compatible with the system motherboard. If you are using any other system, please share the exact system model with me.

Dell does not recommend or offer processor upgrade but it is as your discretion in case you really wish to go ahead with it. Warranty per say, issues arising due to the upgrade will not be covered under warranty; however we will continue providing support for other issues and parts.

My Computer is called an alienware aurora ALX its a 2009 desktop. I do not know the model buti haev the service tag but i hope this is compatible with my motheboard. 

For the Aurora R4, are any Xeon's compatible, specifically the 8 Plus Core models?

Intel i7-4960X is compatible with Alienware ALX system. As you have an Alienware ALX, you should be able to upgrade the processor.
