Custom alienware ROG desktop

hi all

im new to this site, and i love the layout, but let me get to the point:

i have an alienware aurora case that houses my rig, using an Asus RoG rampage Gene 1366 motherboard. now, this worked for me, fx lights and all, about two years ago. i had to replace the front panel and top lighting board(crazy ex cut my front panel wires.)

now i just recently got my desktop rig back up(got me an m14 to feed my hunger for gaming), with a new front panel and top lighting board, and these are the issues im having:

1. the front bezel and alien head do not shut off. i have to remove the power cord from the outlet to get them to shut off, never was like that before

2. when i do remove the power cord, it resets my CMOS settings, which require me to set the date and time each and every time i unplug the power cord. however, unplugging the power cord gets the side lights to work.

3. the side lights will not work unluess the power cord is completely removed from the outlet it is in?

anyone got any ideas of how i can fix this? i do have ACC installed, but its that my side lights wont turn on and my front lights wont turn off.

Only thing I can think of is to test MIO-Board with Dell Diagnostics (outside of Windows). General tests and exercise lights, etc.

However, not sure that runs on non-Alienware MB.

i did just replace the lighting board because it wasnt powering the cpu cooling pump. think that could also be the issue as well? i dont think the MIO board is the issue. im going to update the bios on my computer and see what that does.

think it could be that im running windows 64 bit ultimate? i noticed that one of the programs will not install saying my platform is not compatible.

No, all Dell-Alienware machines in 2009-2011 shipped with Win7 64-bit.

What programs?

The Top Lighting Board is just provided to connect more things to MIO-Board.

I realize you "lose" your color profile after shutdown, but after you open Cmnd Cntr / AlienFx, can you at least change exterior colors? Is Fx otherwise working & configurable in the instances when your desktop is powered on?

Simple test platforms:

1) c>program files>alienware>cmndcntr>alienfxtester.exe
2) did you create and run your alienware 32 bit diagnostics bootable cd & do M i/o tests ...

3) Power down > Unplug pc > depress power button for 1 minute to "drain power from M I/o" > plug pc in, power up, see if it helped

4) If nothing helps after that, & it was my pc, I would do a M I/o Factory Reset:

A) Disconnect M i/o USB-to-MthrBrd connector. On M i/o, find tiny green jumper pin. Note it's pin position, remove jumper, replace onto opposite poles to the one it is on now. Power on, boot into Windows, wait for Windows dektop, imediately click start button & click shut down.
B) Remove jumper, set it aside. Power on, shut down via Windows.
C) Reinstall jumper to original poles. Plug in USB connector to M i/o. Power on as normal, hope the factory reset helped, if not, reinstall (repair) CmndCntr, then check.

"Disconnecting M I/o usb-to-mthrbrd" is optional", try it both ways ...

Try CC 2.6.17.0 (7-2011).

Until CC is installed (and MIO-Board is reprogrammed) it will keep running it's last config ... even if last config is corrupt.

Until you verify MIO-Board/Top-Lighting-Board hardware is tested 100% operational (see MY post above) you are likely wasting time. You might have a hardware or wiring problem.

im been trying to install different versions of the acc, because when i did this 2 years ago, it was as simple as installing that and the lights worked flawlessly. now, the latest version does install but when i shut the pc down the side lights turn off and wont turn back on, and the front bezel and alien head stay on. ive made changes to the power profile like the earlier post told me to do, same result.
