If you want to make the SSD your primary drive, you need to reinstall Windows and create the primary partition on the SSD. Which Windows operating system am I running?
The problem with re-installing windows is.. It came already installed on my laptop, I have no way to reinstall should I choose to obliterate it and start over. I also have no idea what a partition is. If you're asking what my OS is, it's Windows 8.1.
Thank you for your reply Judal7837 but now I feel like I'm even more lost than when I started, I don't have the "bay" thing you showed in your example. It all looks quite complicated, that's probably just how it seems to me though.

So if I'm gathering this right, I need to create a recovery USB and then use it to reinstall windows without the hard-drive being in the computer?

yes, you are right. make the usb recovery with alienware respawn. shut down your lap, disconnect the HDD and only connect the m.2 SSD
