help with dual boot on aw13
hi all,
just got my new AW13 oled and I would really like to have dual boot with Ubuntu.
does anyone have a nice step by step guide?
I created my Ubuntu bootable stick. I was able to make the Ubuntu installer see my hard disk only if I changed it in bios from RAID to AHCI (which wouldn't let me boot back into windows!!). This way I managed to get into the installer and see my new logical partitions. Then I got overwhelmed with the Linux boot options: I guess I know where to install the root ("/") but where do I install the bootloader? I don't want to mess up the windows boot manager. Also, can I return the harddisk to RAID after the installation? It's confusing.
Anyway, any help would be highly appreciated.
Cheers!

Well, a Macrium Reflect Free v6.x Full Image (with verify on) of whole drive will return that drive to its current state.
You could also just pull that one and drop in a spare to play around.
I think someone posted a Ubuntu Dual-Boot setup guide (on an Alienware laptop) a while back. But maybe it was just a full Linux-only install. Did you search forum?

Thank you Tesla, that would be another question of mine, how may i return my system to the factory install? please explain a bit.
I have looked around a bit but there are some unanswered questions. I was hoping to find a step by step guide.
cheers!

Settings / Update / Recovery / Reset this PC ... should do it.
You will have Macrium Reflect Free Image in case not (which will at least return it to now).

Thanks Tesla.
I was thinking of a recovery solution in case I mess up my boot partition.
I'll look into the Macrium Image.
Cheers!

I think I would just treat it like a normal computer.
Seems like Ubuntu manual or forums would be the best place for this info.

You are welcome.
As you can see, there are lots of options ... all built-into Windows-10 now.
Windows-10 also has it's own "Imaging" program as well, but I prefer using Macrium Reflect Free instead.
Finally, you can always do a "Nuke-and-Pave" and clean-install Windows-10. It's widely accepted to just use the Microsoft.com supplied/created flash drive of it. I just heard it's already updated with "Creators Update" build.
