Issue with Refurbished Alienware system?

Hi guys,

So I just purchased a refurbished Alienware 13 from a 3rd party about a week ago. Never used before, only opened the box to make sure the system turned on, but other than that there was no prior use.

I've only used the system about 3 times due to a hectic week, and these are the issues I am facing with it already:

1) Graphics card failure--couldn't even open the Battle Net app by blizzard because it couldn't recognize any graphics. My Intel HD graphics also failed during that time

2) EXTREMELY slow application of updates

3) Freezes when only 1 app is open--spotify for example. Have to force shutdown

4) PC errors randomly (had about 4 so far)

I mean am pretty sure that these issues should not be common at all with any new computer, but especially not for an Alienware. This is my first Alienware and I was so excited to make the switch, but not am very frustrated. Does anyone have any similar experiences, or can offer me any advice?

Thanks!

When you say it was refurbished, by whom do you mean? The seller or Dell/Alienware?

As the previous poster suggested, a clean install usually clears up software related issues.  I would also suggest that you verify the configuration of your hardware and make sure it matches what it is supposed to have.  Visit support.dell.com and enter the service tag or express service code from the back of the machine.  You will be able to view the factory configuration.

If you bought this computer via eBay, there have been reports in the past of blackmarket and counterfeit computers sold on auction sites.  This has been known to happen when computers are being offered / shipped from overseas.

Just some thoughts.  Good luck.
