We only validated these two as part of the motherboard -
Intel SU4100 1.30GHz (800 MHz FSB, 2MB Cache)
Intel SU7300 1.30GHz (800 MHz FSB, 3MB Cache)

Thank you for getting back to me. I am aware that these are the only two that you have Validated. I currently have the SU7300. I would like to replace it and wondering what chipset I need to look into and if the CPU is soldered to the Motherboard or not.

I would like to know this before I pull it apart and possibly void my warranty.

-Thanks, Mike

CORRECTION - The one in our lab was soldered. The warranty would not cover removing our CPU and adding another. Mobile Intel GS45 Express Chipset.

Hey...

How about to use a Core 2 Duo SU9600 same socket 1.6ghz and same TDP, designed to use the same chipset GS45.

or better yet an an SP9400 same socket, same chipset, 6m cache, 2.4ghz, the issues 1066mhz FSB and 25w TDP instead of 10W.

FSB should be supported by the chipset as specs of the chipset, 25w TDP is my big question.

So Alienware engineers, M11x  heatsink are able to disipate the extra heat created by the SP9400, since is capable to disipate the extra heat of overclock the SU7300?

OR

Can we replace the Core 2 Duo SU7300 with an SU9600 for the extra bit power, and then overclock it  to 2.0ghz?

None of that has been tested by us. No idea what could happen.

The m11x cpu is a bga chip, that means you will have to solder it in.

I have done extensive research on this and the only chip that is possible to upgrade to is a su9600.  But you have to get one with a bga pinout on it.  Then find a place to install it.

I am not 100% on the su9600 even working though, the bios will support it, but it still may not play nice with the motherboard.

I am actually working on this mod now, I have a brand new bga cpu, and a spare motherboard.  Just waiting on the shop to slow down so I can have it soldered in.

Yes, I would go with the pin mod first.  You can get up to 2.0 with it.

According to www.cpu-upgrade.com/.../GS45_Express.html I think it would be ok, but I am no expert and don't know if this site is trustworthy since I randomly found it while searching with google.
