M11x R2 hinges breaking

Hi,

in the last week or so, the hinges on my M11x R2 have begun to show serious signs of wear. The lid has become very stiff to open, and the left hinge cracks loudly and is moving a lot. I heard this was a common defect on the R2 a long time ago, but it has only happened to me now - the laptop is otherwise as good as new.

So, is Dell still repairing this defect for free, out of warranty? And if so, will I have to wait until the hinge fully breaks? At the moment, it's clear that will happen soon.
