M15x AC adapter error.

Recently when booting up my laptop, the first thing that pops up (before the boot menu even), is a message claiming that my AC adpater is not the recommend 150W adapter that came with my laptop, although this is in fact the same AC adapter that came with this computer. It has never done this in the 2 years of ownership of this laptop.

Specs:

Model: m15x Alienware (2-3 years old)

AC adapter: *Original adapter* 125 volts, 2.5 Amps, to my calculations(correct me if wrong) this would bring the adapter to a little over 300 watts, which seems excessive...

Any help would be much appreciated!

P.S. If this is in fact the wrong adapter, am I causing harm to my computer? I am a casual gamer.

Have you figured out the cause?

Update: Noticed the plug is hard to pull out of the laptop now (used to be able to be knocked out but setting things on it), and is very hot. Also every now and then it switched to the battery and I must unplug and replug it or jiggle the cord.

I'm thinking about calling or emailing Dell, any other advice?
