M15X command center problems

Hi all..

First off, my first post in here...
I have searched the topic, and can't find anything more than 1 post, stating that Win7 & Command Center is not compatible..

I have a just purchased a M15X with Win7 home premiuim installed, and when I access the Command Center, the only thing available is FX (The Lights thing), but the Aliensense facial recognition is working fine when logging in, and so forth...??
When I try to start up the Aliensense from the Tray Icon, it states following...
Quote
"Sorry The application AlienSense can not be launched. Would you like to continue loading Command Center?"
Quote End

Could some kind soul please explain a noob like me, how the Aliensense program is working, and I might add, surprisingly good, but it can't be accessed..?

and what about alienfusion and the other things? I cannot access anything expect the lighting thing.

Welcome to the forums

I'd advise downloading/reinstalling the complete 'Command Center' application

It's listed under 'Applications' on the M15X 'Drivers & Downloads' page

it is a registry issue: first download the new version of CC, ver A05 and try installing it.  If it works great.

However, it is likely to have some issues within win7.  So, do the following:

  • uninstall/delete Command Center
  • run crapcleaner's registry clean
  • reboot
  • re-run registry clean
  • do a fresh install of the latest version, A05 of Command Center
  • to ensure Touch works, ensure you have the latest synaptics driver installed from the Dell site

Latest version is more stable and better featured than the old vists-based version, but until all registry conflictrs and residue are removed, the old version lingers in enough places to mess things up.

Are you using English Language ?

"Some versions of Windows 7, such as Windows 7  Ultimate and Windows 7 Enterprise, allows users to change the support language to display text in wizards, menus, help and supports and dialog boxes."

Command Center is supposed to work  in English Language.

I agree with the other posts that it's worthwhile to make sure that you're running the most updated version of Command Center. With regard to AlienSense specifically, there were changes that Microsoft made to Win7 that made the previous Vista versions of AlienSense incompatible. It's entirely possible that Command Center itself may run under Win7 with an older version but that AlienSense may not (though I've not personally seen the specific symptom that you describe where the recognition is working but the command console is not).To update AlienSense you need to update the entire Command Center.

Also worth checking to be sure that the Win7 account that you're using is of the Administrative type.
