I have the very same issues.

All of them.

Actually, Bios A05 fixed my power adaptor issue.

ive had this recently but i had more and more and more and more issues first few months mine ran like a dream then  around july i started having issues and then it went from dell telling me to try ram from another machine to try this and this..  and its gone on from rebuilding my system  to current day were i still have issues even after everything was replaced :(  i have been approved for an R2 exchange finally since  its been dismantled somany times now the plastics no longer site right the keyboard is warped amongst other things but i was approved and took from almost 2 months and a COMPLETE rebuild 7 video cards

when you call ask to speak with a supervisor you need to get past the first line tech   but i just await to see what specs i end up with on a replacement

goodluck and keep pushing the subject

Had my alienware r2. And right out of the box, it was awful. So, they went ahead and sent out another, after they had switched out motherboard, and other hardware peices, etc.....And this one took 2 months to actually get it in my hands once we had serious issues with the one right before the 1st Alienware. It was an xps (17). So, now, on the 2nd Alienware. And Ive had no major issues with it (havent done any updates at all!!!) Im sorta nervous about doing updates. That was when we started having issues with the 1st one. When we gave the tech our must haves, they dismissed it all!! So, be careful getting your hopes up on what your exchange will be. Hopefully itll be a better situation than mine. But def go with a supervisor right off the bat.

Good Luck!

OK, I've finally had the chance to get in touch with Alienware Tech Support - not happy one bit.

The guy I spoke to was initially very nice and could understand my problem, but things started going downhill from there. Apparently there was no supervisor available for me to talk to as others have previously suggested speaking with a supervisor straight off the bat. He then went on to say that I would be told the same thing he has just told me by the supervisor. I put across all my concerns and would-like's to him, to which he replied that I should send an e-mail to one he provided with details of everything I would like to have done and points of note with regards to my situation.

In an update to this, I have updated my graphics driver - or rather, down-graded in terms of version for Dell's latest. But this led to my screen going green with squiggly lines and red yesterday and a few days ago. I have photos of both, which were attached to the e-mail. I still get all the previously mentioned problems with my machine, so yeah, no support at all from the Techies.

At present I am not very impressed at all - my warranty runs out at the end of October I believe it is, if it takes renewing it to sort this out I will do so. If not Dell has lost me as a customer. I have tried all the brands over the years, but Dell has been my first laptop choice and always has been for Alienware.

well according to your signature your system is much same specs as mine is currently....  the matrix screen sucks an is indication of ram going bad  on video and or bad drivers try a driver cleaner to remove the nvidia drivers then start clean if this dont help  then   when u call just ask for a manager i always get one someties they are in a meeting  and are unavailable so i just wait on hold... aka one of my 3 hour days on phone  but after mine been rebuilt and i still have issues and they keep getting worst  monday tho i checked my account and seen a R2 replacement on production for me with a i7  dual 5870's and so on  man this was the happiest day i ever had since the day i unboxed my r1  this process started in july with ram issues and now  its sept. so wasnt  short process .

Jason was the last supervisor i delt with and he is really nice, understanding, and wants to help  so did 2 others i talked to Eric and Hans got me upgraded were eric got my replacement then Jason took over  and turn my bad experience into  making a customer happy

so just keep pushing  and pushing eventually you will get somewere even bring up the fact ike hey my warranty is almost up i want this fixed now not after warranty is up if you wont help me get me a supervisor please talk nice and calm they will listen you yell they ignore and hangup on you lol

I have exactly the same problems like you posted with the new nvidia drivers!

Alienware M17x R1
Windows 7 64 bit
2* GForce GTX 260M + 1*GForce 9400
1 TB Raid 0
4 GB RAM

I tested Nvidia Driver 257.38 from Dell Support or original Nvidia Driver 258.96 from Nvidia.com
Result: Random freezes and funny screen artefacts and problems on switching between stealth and full power mode

Computer works good with Nvidia Driver Version 197.84 ( Beta Driver you will find on Dell Support Page for your Alienware)
But some games are slower or some older games are crashing or not working with this driver (computer is not crashing ... only the games)
That was the reason i tried to update to newer drivers .... no luck!

My Alienware is one year old.
I renewed my service contract for two more years.
I am sure i will need it.

They changed the hard drives and they changed the blue-ray drive already.
I looks like a never ending service story.

I hate this thing but i like him the same time :)
