M17x SLI Dual GPU issue

I am confused. I am new to dual GPU's and i don't think there both being used. I enabled sli in the bios and they come up. But games like Star Trek Online don't run good at MAXED settings. How do i make sure my GPU's are working together?

P.S. Any other tips on how to speed the computer up would be much appriciated!

1. Core 2 Duo 2.40 GHz CPU
2. One Integrated Geforce 9400
3. Two Discrete SLI enabled nVidia GTX 260 cards
4. 8GB of DDR3 Ram and 1333 MHz
5. Two 500GB Hard drives at 7200 RPS

Have you run any of the Benchmark Programs to see how your M17x fares against others? There had been a known Latency issue with some of them. What BIOS Version are you running and what driver version for the 260's? I know that's more questions but just what you have and what isn't running right enough for you is but a starting point.

Actually, I just got done researching it on google and as it turns out, all i had to do this whole time was hit the stealth button to enable full use. lol big whoops right? Star Trek Online runs at maxed settings with no problems at all! It is amazing!

P.S. To any other reading this, any tips on how to improve my computer, via memory usage, or anything really, feel free to add on!

(I am wondering how to remove the big SLI line?) The one that shows a green meter?

Oh, good to read that! I find if I play with the setting in nVidia Systems Tools V 6.05 and tweak the FSB setting 10 then run it for a bit, then change the GPU 2 and 3 settings a little at a time I've got my 2.26GHz CPU up to 1200 overclocked from the 1066 in FSB (in the BIOS once stable for 12 hours in nVidia Systems Tools) which is 2.55GHz and my 280M GTX GPU's are now at 600/1000/1650 and running just fine and temps are good. Do a search for the nVidia Systems Tools and download them if you don't have them already,

Ok, i'll look for that right now! This won't crash my system will it?

Is there a way to remove the SLI bar that shows over all my gams now? Its kind of annoying now,

Well, yes, it might. What you are looking for is stable which is why it's best to do it slowly and run it until your system shows instability then back it off. I don't understand the SLi bar showing when running a game though and perhaps someone else may, Understand any changes you make in NST are Dynamic and wont be applied next boot up for the FSB setting these need to be applied in you BIOS for permanent status, your GPU settings can be applied by saving the profile for all the time or by applying a rule setting for when you run different software like your game etc.

Ok, i will mess with that. Another question you or anyone else may be able to answer.......

How do I cange the values of how much RAM each program uses. I spoke with someone who showed me how, but when i got home i forgot lol :(

I have 8GB of DDR3 1333 MHz and i want to use it to its full!

My 280M GTX cards grab about 1.5Gb of my 4 Gb of RAM on the M7x leaving 2.5Gb for programs which works well, Adobe Lightroom 64 and Nikon NX2 bot are memory hogs and neither hiccups with what I have, with your 8Gb I wouldn't worry much. I have 12Gb in my 435-T running Windows 7 64 Ultimate and the ATi 4870 grabs 4Gb of that and it has not hiccuped with anything I've throw at it so far. Heck even my XPS Gen 1 running Windows 7 32 Professional with only 2 Gb RAM and a puny ATi 256Mb video runs Lightroom and NX2 satisfactorily!

I would like to increase how much RAM certain programs are allowed to use, how can this be done?
