Max Resolution on 17

Hi,

Just had a question; I just ordered an Alienware 17 R3 (on the australian website), and just noticed that the display was "17.3 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits Display".

I originally purchased it online thinking all the new models of the 17' the laptops had 4K resolution? Or is that an optional upgrade?

Also afterwards I looked through all the optional upgrades (on the Australian website) and there was no option to upgrade resolution for the 17 but available for the 15?

Not too tech savvy, but I needed 4k resolution for some of my software. could someone let me answer this, not sure if I should cancel my order and get a 15' with the resolution upgrade? Thanks

There are two panels for the Alienware 17-R3 =
17.3" FHD (1920x1080), IPS, Anti-Glare, 300nits
17.3" UHD (3840x2160) IPS IGZO, Anti-Glare, 400nits

It shows both on the USA sales site but the Australian sales site only offers the 1080. You will need to go with the Alienware 15-R2 to get the UHD panel.

That is so sad, the same has happened in NZ I bought my 17R3 last year, and the 4K display was an option back then don't know when Dell dropped it, but it was one of the main reasons for considering a 17R3 over everything else. The display (as others here have said) is absolutely stunning - despite the issues it causes around sizes of some applications.

I don't understand the logic in offering 4K on a 15" system, and not the 17" - seems completely backwards to me. Especially as the 15" has lower spec graphics (in NZ, only the 965M).

I notice Dell has also dropped the 980M option for the 17" system, too.
