Mx14 Alienware - Won't Turn On

Question

Greetings Community, I purchased this laptop last September(2011), and have not had any problems until today. Well, let me rephrase that. At some point, I don't know when, my laptop would no longer start while the A/C adapter was connected. Because I normally run my laptops like this until they are low, and then plug them in, I have no idea when this actually started. It was only a minor inconvenience however, so I simply kept doing my normal routine. The battery always charged, it ran while plugged in or if not,  and I never experienced performance or heating issues. Today however, I mistakenly let my laptop die while not plugged in. When I went to try and boot it, it showed life for less than a second but didn't show any lights, nor boot. I have tried starting it normally, with the battery and no cord, with the battery and cord and with no battery but with cord. The battery itself has a little button I can press, whether it is connected or not, to display how much power it has. One of it's five lights light up for less than a second and turns off. I also tried leaving the laptop plugged in for 6 hours, went back and tried again... But nothing. Any assistance would be appreciated. I use my laptop for work and for games, so I need this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Sounds like a battery issue to me - I think you'll need to replace it but I'm not an expert on the subject.
