Ownership Transfer
Hi,
Alienware M17xR3 laptop was sent to me as a present from a family in America. He bought the laptop from B & H in New York City. The laptop was shipped to his address in New Jersey. I got the laptop delivered to me in Ireland from my uncle and I tried to change the ownership of the laptop which proves impossible. I was asked the first owner address which is in New Jersey. I tried to change it to my current address in Ireland but I keep getting emails saying the first ownership details are not correct. So where am confused is what details do they want from me. Is the ownership details suppose to be B & H where the laptop was bought OR the address it was shipped to in New Jersey OR the details of who paid for the laptop which was his wife with her credit card? Help me please.

desdessy,
Your uncle has to transfer the ownership from B&H into his name. Once submitted and into our system, then, you can transfer the ownership from your uncle into your name.

Doesn't the ownership becomes his when he purchased the laptop from B&H Photo and have it shipped to his address ?. I mean I rang up Dell today and someone was telling me the laptop is registered to some Californian address. Why does have to be so confusing ?

* Nope. He bought it from a reseller. They are the primary owner. Your uncle is the secondary owner and must transfer the ownership to himself. Then, you can transfer the ownership from him to you.

* The original purchaser has the service tag attached to them. It may not even be B&H. What is the service tag number?
Why does have to be so confusing?
* Because you didn't buy directly from us. If your uncle had purchased it from us, he would have received the warranty and service tag in his name. Then it would be simple to transfer the ownership to you. Until I get the tag, I cannot know the "real" owner of the tag.
