Possible problem with the Power Adapter?
Hi, first time posting here so I hope it’s in the right place.
I received my Alienware M17x R4 this morning and the cable which is plugged in from mains and which connects to the brick is rather loose. With a small nudge, it can sometimes allow the power to stop. If moved it can also sometimes cause an almost crackling type sound to come from ether the brick or the cable. Is this normal? Stationary, the cable and power seems fine and as far as I can tell, it’s having no ill effects in actually powering my laptop.
Thank you in advance! :)

Valamist,
On my M18x, the power cord fits pretty snug into the brick, but there is some up/down play. I can nudge it and it does not stop the power. Contact Alienware support for your region and have them setup a Parts Only Exchange to replace your Power Cord and AC adapter.
Email = alienware_1@dell.com
Phone = 0800 2799751, Option 3
They will need the following information -

Best Time To Reach You:
System Model: M17x-R4
Service Tag number:
Issue Description: Faulty Power Cord and AC adapter

HI,
I also received my Alienware AURORA R3 system from the US to Nigeria sometime in August 2011. four days ago i plugged in the power code to the mains and a crackling type sound from the AC adapter region ever since the system has refused to come on. How do i get a replacement...it is urgent and i need to work. Also can i trade the faulty Aurora R3 for the latest R4, how do i go about that?
Thank you in anticipation..

Ikeh Gilson,
We do not have a trade in/trade up program. You must transfer the ownership from the USA to your country into your name via the Ownership Transfer Form (http://dell.to/qNc5Am)
Once completed, you should contact Dell Support for your region (0027 11 549 4010) and have them troubleshoot the R3.

..can i order parts myself, cos one of DELL service center close to said they can not trace the ownership transfer number to the region(Nigeria).."TD plus limited, in Lagos".....please can you send me address of DELL certified service/support center in Nigeria........
Many of my friends really want to get an Alienware system like mine but they are scared about the service centers in my Nigeria, ......because of my situation at present. I hope to hear from soon......

When you use the form, they should be able to see it. I do not know the address of a support center in Nigeria.

Sorry for the late update, but I think I may have solved the issue. Taking the advice from another thread, I simply used a different power cable to connect the brick to the mains! It fits much better than the last, and there is no sounds/loos of power when moved. Thank you all for the kind help!
