Problem with my new display M17X
Hello all
i bought an 1080p display from ebay, to reemplace my old 900p display
the thing is after i finished installing it, when i turn the laptop on i got this color lines all over the screen
here is a photo
to fix it, i have to reboot my laptop alot of time, till the screen works again, but if i rebot or close the screen, the problem come back, this mean the display is broken? or i can fix it myself? im from veenzuela and i bought this in USA so is pretty hard for me to return it
here is a photo of the back of both old and new display
the left one is the new nonworking display and right is my old display, that is currently installed in my laptop so i can use it normally, i saw that cable and little panel in the alien logo, i tried putting it in my old display to see if that was the problem, but my old display worked just fine with that thing installed.
btw sorry for my bad english
EDIT: before u guys ask, i have an m17x r4 with 7970m, i reformated it to see if it was the problem but nope, i installed all the lastest drivers too.

Hi,
If the system works with the original LCD or an external monitor, it means the problem is the 1080p LCD you purchased from eBay. It could be a faulty hardware part or a compatibility problem if you purchased the wrong LCD. 3rd party hardware parts are not covered in the laptop's warranty, so I recommend you try contact the eBay seller.

It's clear from that picture that there is a hardware problem. If you wan't to confirm if there's a problem with the LCD, I recommend you connect an external monitor while you're getting the distortion lines with the 1080p LCD. If the image looks normal on the external monitor it will confirm the diagnosis.
NOTE: The system will only beep when it's not completing POST. In that case, it will beep 6 times if there's a video card problem or 8 times if there's an LCD problem. However, this is not the case here.

Sometimes hardware issues can be intermittent, which is why they might come and go or be temporary fixed after certain workarounds. Did you try connecting an external monitor to confirm whether or not it's an LCD issue?
