Raid Question, adding another Hard drive?

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am kind of new to raid setups.

I recently got a Auora 3 system, very impressed so far.

I want to add a hard drive from my old XPS system that has Vista 64bit installed, as there are a couple of games I play that are not able to run on Windows 7, due to starforce drivers.

I put the hard drive into system as per instructions and yes Bios and raid know it is there as does Windows 7.

Am I right during boot up, when the raid screen shows, if I press Ctrl L or whatever that command is, that brings up raid windows, I tried to add Hard drive, well I think I was and it said hard drive had to be empty.

I cannot find any instructions in manual on how to add a drive to raid, Is there a link or a you tube video or something I could follow?

Or how do I do this, obviously with Vista being on 3rd HD, I will be running a duel boot as I was doing on my XPS system.

Anyway suggestions welcomed.

Thanks

Phil

I replied to this but it got deleted. I may know why.

If you want your third harddrive to act as a drive by itself, you don't want to add it to the raid.  Raid makes multiple harddrives act as one harddrive.  You don't want that, you want the data on the third drive to show up as drive D: not as part of your current drive C:

There are multiple reasons why it is not a good idea to move an OS from one computer to another.  Your best bet is to install the harddrive in the computer so it is recognized as drive D: or anything other than C: then format it and do a full install of Vista onto D:. You do risk screwing something up with your current install or your Raid configuration if you do it that way. I have never done it with Raid so I don't have any advice to protect your current config.

I don't know what starforce drivers are, but I would probably try to get the games working in 7 rather than doing a dual boot with Vista.  Maybe you have done everything possible though, I don't know.

Philby12, I found no violation in your post. I found one in the post by goonielife.

I mentioned something in mine that would probably be considered software piracy.
