Real Time Clock failure

Hello,

While playing (SWTOR), the computer freezed.  I turn it off, and when trying to reboot, nothing happens, except for that 5 beeps alarm.

Searching, I found that this means a "Real Time Clock failure".  What is it exactly?  Its look like its related to the cmos battery?

I checked the voltage on that battery.  Suppose to be 3V, it gives me only 2.5V.  Can this be the problem? (I cant go to the store to buy a new one right now :( )

Didnt upgrade the bios or change anything.  Still using A03, everything was running fine until that event..

Thanks for your input.

Hi,

Disconnect the system from the AC power and hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Test the system after that. Do you get any kind of error code?

It would also be a good Idea to update the BIOS.

Hi Natalia,

I changed the battery, no change.

I tried what you proposed, dont work either.   :(

As for the BIOS, I cannot do anything right now, since its not booting.

Do you see anything on the screen at all when you turn the system on? at least the Alienhead logo? or nothing?

Now its weird.

I try to boot while removing a DVD that was in the drive.  After doing that, I dont have the alarm anymore.  I can see the Alien head screem for a few second, the, everthing go blank, and nothing happen.  I tried to press F2, it bring me in a setup screen for 1-2 second, then go blank.

Weird weird :(

Woot!

The PC booted normally, everything seem to work properly :D  I didnt try any game yet, but I guess it should be ok!

So is it possible that all of this was related to "instability with 3rd party GPU", which the bios A05 corrected?

Progression this morning.. (I am writing from my R4 right now)

I changed the HDD to another slot.

So far i dont have the 5 beeps alarm anymore, but the screen goes blank few second after i turn it on.  But the PC seems to boot anyway, HDD light is blinking.

So I decided to try another GPU.  I put back my old GTX555 into it.  The PC boot normally, the screen dont go away.

I guess it must be my GTX670 that is wrong.

So I tried it in my old PC: work well, no problem at all!!!

Is it possible that suddenly my R4 stop "loving" my GTX670 (Asus) ??

While the PC is up and running, I will upgrade the BIOS to the latest version.

More to come.  I really appreciate your inputs.
