Some keys on keyboard (Alienware 17 R4) not working?
Hello, I just received my new Alienware and was shocked when i noticed that some keys are not working at all. 4, p, f and the Home button do not do anything. I already tried those buttons in BIOS and they did not work there either, so I am confident this is a Hardware issue. Anyone know an easy way to fix this, or do I need to send the machine back and wait for Dell to send a new one :/?
Thank you!

I'm having same issue as you are. Did you end up finding a way to get this fixed?
TIA.

I am now having the same exact issue as the OP.
I called into tech support and scheduled them to come out but just got a email stating the part to fix my computer is not available right now. I am disappointment as this is my main computer used every day and I have to use a external keyboard.

I'm having the exact same issue, keys "f, p, 4" won't work. I have to copy/paste these letters to use them. I've only had this PC for like 3 months and it started doing this a couple weeks ago.

I am having a similar issue - for weeks my keypad has been missing the * / and + symbols. Now today my entire keyboard just quit. I have an alienware laptop just over 1 year old. The problem extended to the keyboard on the computer itself. Changing external keyboards didn't help. Only thing that seems to work is a reboot but now I'm concerned that if this is a hardware problem that I might get completely locked out.
What is the firmware update?

I have this exact same issues - pressing "a" gets me "a9." "O" doesn't work at all. Down arrow key repeats "u's." "L" gives me "lh." It's not usable at this point. If anyone has a fix beyond physical repair, please let me know.

3 things to try. Check for Dell updates, Force reinstall the keyboard drivers, and update or flash the current BIOS. Before you flash the BIOS please verify the version you have is older or the same as the current BIOS release. Sometimes newer systems have a newer version than the public release. Do not downgrade your BIOS. If this doesn't fix your issue you may need to contact Dell and have them try to fix the issue.
