Some Problems with my Alienware m18xR2

Dear customer care

i have been having a couple of consistent problems with my alienwarem18xR2

1. Network connectivity. The TTL is inconsistent (Request timed out) and even though there is an improvement after updating the latest drivers from Dell site as well as qualcom site there is still inconsistency even though much less than before but still. One would expect better quality from one of the best (Killer wireless cards)

2. i have several external HDD from which i play HD movies on different media players. Sometimes while watching a movie the HDD disconnects and then connects thereby stopping the media player which i have to start again to continue watching the movie. This problem i am unable to resolve. Since the HDD are of different brands and play well on other system the problem is in the ports of my system. All 4 ports have the same problem even though they are updated with the latest usb drivers from your site.

Kindly help me with these problems especially the latter which is very annoying.

Dear Naomi

Thank you for you prompt reply

My network card is Killer wireless N1103. The two drivers that i tested to be better than the rest are

KillerSuite_1.1.38.1281_Win7_Win8_Win81 from Qalcom

Network_Driver_827TJ_WN_v10.0.1.71_A00 from Dell

As for the USB i have used Strike 7 keyboard which used to give problems but i returned the product thinking it was faulty. My new keyboard Deathstalker Ultimate however gives no problem.

I never faced any problem with my Phone connected through USB or my external webcam

My wireless mouse oroborus from Razer sometimes stops responding when asleep for a long time but i cant categorically say that it is the fault of my USB.

My HDD only give problem when i am transferring large amount of data generally movie files or watching HD movies. Please note these movies play without problem on other systems.

Hi Basir,

Which Wireless card does your system have?

Have you had any problems with other USB devices in those ports (mouse, external keyboard, USB thumb-drive, etc)?

Thanks for the info.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS A11 and re-install the Wireless driver as explained here to try to solve the connection problem. If the problem persists, it's most likely a hardware issue.

Regarding the problem with the USB ports; what model is that HDD? Since the problem is only with one specific HDD, we can't verify if it's hardware problem yet
