SSD Cache Drive Issue
I have a M14xR2 (64bit) that I bought new back in july. It's been awesome so far however about 2 weeks ago I attempted to start my laptop and was met with a 'disk read error'. I was then prompted to do the CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart it but it would loop back to the same screen. I was angry at first and still a little irritated about it it but I was able to isolate it to the 32GB samsung caching drive with Intel SRT turned on and in 'enhanced' mode. After I deleted the RAID configuration through the boot screen and restarted it booted fine to windows. So I'm assuming there is something wrong with how the boot data is being cached and forces an error.
Has anyone else come across this. is it a software or hardware issue? This is now the second time I have attempted to re-enable the cache drive. Currently I have acceleration turned off. BIOS has been updated to A09 and I have also done a clean install of windows. I am hesitant to install any of my main software suites to use (Adobe master collection) for fear of something happening again. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
I have the same problem.
I bought a new intel ssd for my alienware m18x ... after installation of windows when I restart the laptop I have the same black screen 'disk read error' CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart. I have A05 bios version. On AHCI i cant install the OS , only on RAID .
On HDD the laptop works perfectly on RAID.
My questions is if you solved your issue and how ?
is there anyone who can help me regarding this problem ?
My laptop is under warranty and I sent it to a alienware service and they should contact me within 2-3 days.
Sorry for my english...please contact me back
Thank you in advance

I wasn't able to find a complete solution through W7, but I ended up upgrading my OS to W8 and then went back to the Dell website and downloaded all the drivers for the new OS. As a separate upgrade I updated the BIOS to A09. After re-enabling acceleration and setting up it up in 'enhanced' mode I have not yet seen any issues. It has been a couple weeks now and I have not had any 'disk read error' issues or BSOD's.
I would say my M14X R2 system is now free and clear but I still have a problem with the speakers not working occasionally. I'll probably make a separate thread for it but sometimes when I start my computer I hear a brief 'crackling' and 'popping' from the speakers and then once the OS has booted it says that there is no audio output device installed. Strangely it will go away most of the time if I close the laptop and make it hibernate or go into standby for an extended period from which point it won't happen again. I'm still convinced its a hardware issue not software because the W8 upgrade and corresponding driver updates did nothing. I've had the issue for a month or two now and I haven't called warranty simply because I dread talking to them...
Good luck with the first issue however!
