Upgrade?
Does anyone know If it is possible to upgrade a M17 with a GTX 460 to a GTX 485. I havent received my computer yet as it is still in production. I don't really need a SLI setup using 200 wats of power, but I may have to cancel my order and change to a M18 if I'm unable to upgrade my video chip.

I just ordered a VDV04 Nvidia GTX460m. Will it work in my M15x? I originally had the GTS260m. Please respond to . Thanks very much. Here is the link.

The ebay seller is incorrect. Dell part number VDV04 was for the Dell Nvidia Geforce GTX460m sold on the M17x-R3 and M18x-R1. The Dell Nvidia Geforce GTX460m sold on the M15x uses part number 479NV. I do not know if VDV04 will work in the M15x. maybe they are the same video card using different part numbers? Just install it and see. If it doesn't work, send it back to the ebay seller.

I been going back n forth trying to get a card first I ordered a 560 but it was blue and from a qosmio so it didnt work the laptop would start but it would beep than shut off and the scroll caps leds would flash, than i ordered a 5870m and it did nothing in my pc all the leds would blink so i am guessing that was doa and now this I guess i have no luck with tryin to figure out the right card number.

Right, that information posted on 11/4/10 on the M15x is old and incorrect. The listing I gave you below is correct.
