Windows mode on alienware alpha

Just bought an alienware alpha yesterday. Everythig worked smoothly from the moment I set it up (without installing the newest updates) and I tried some steam demoes before calling it a day. The next day i started up my Alpha, who immediately started installing updates. After the updates the alpha doesnt ask me if i want to go to windows or console mode, it just goes straight to the Alpha UI. Now, The Steam Luncher is 'Unable to lunch' and i can't find a way to go to windows mode. I know it is supposed to be in the bottom left hand corner on the Alpha UI sceeen where the power buttom is, but the only available options are; Exit, Sleep, Restart, Shut Down and Shutdown Timer. I've tried all. And yes, I do have a keyboard plugged in.

Hello,

Try holding the right Shift key while selecting the Restart option. This may take you to the troubleshoot menu, select the Advanced Startup settings and look for Safe Mode. Try booting the system in safe mode to confirm if it lets you access the Desktop Mode. If it does, uninstall the Alpha HiveMind Interface software since there may be an issue with the software. Restart the system after doing this to confirm if it lets you access Desktop Mode. If it does, try installing the HiveMind Interface software again and use this version.

Hi,

Try tapping the Shift +F8 keys during boot or just the F8 key.
