Wireless Problems on Alienware 15

I have noticed some wireless network problems on my Alienware 15 recently.  They seem to have cropped up shortly after installing BIOS A03, but that is not definitive.

Essentially, the wireless card appears to freeze up and I lose connectivity.  As well, troubleshooting is difficult as I cannot open the network control panels when this happens.  When I try, they don't respond.  I have tried disabling the wireless, setting airplane mode, etc. and nothing happens.  I have confirmed on my routers that the notebook is not connected.  This has happened on four different networks, three of which I have admin access to check the router.

Rebooting the routers does not help.  The only solution is to reboot the computer.  In one case, after rebooting the computer, the NIC showed as on, but said no networks were available (there are over a dozen in my area).  After most reboots, it works fine.

I am using the latest drivers from the Dell site.

Any advice?

While investigating, I came across a forum regarding problems with Kaspersky and the Killer drivers.  So, I turned off the "Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS 6 Filter" in the NIC properties.  Did this yesterday afternoon and have not dropped a connection since.  I will keep an eye on it and report back.

Well, it went all day without any disconnections.  Maybe I solved it.  Hope this information helps others.

Click here  to view an article with some troubleshooting steps regarding issues with the wireless connection, it may prove helpful. Can you please confirm the name/model for the wireless card on the system?

Thank you for confirming this. Click here  for another forum link about this topic. It seems some people have had similar issues and uninstalling or disabling the Killer software (not the driver) has proved successful with this problem.

I will read that article.  In the meantime, this system has the Killer 1525 NIC.

When I got the machine, I uninstalled the Killer suite as I have had it on another Dell and had nothing but trouble (but not connection issues).  I confirmed that the only thing installed in regards to wireless are the qualcomm drivers.  In the past 4 hours, I have had to reboot 3 times because of lost connections.

Starting to suspect a bad wireless card.  Can a replacement be initiated via the forum or do I need to call tech support?
