Dell Reps will tell you they don't support the 970 in a R1 or R2. I have an R2 with a 330 watt brick and have had a GTX 970 in there with zero issues and I'm now running a GTX 980 for about 6 months without any issues with it. Make sure you buy a reference card...otherwise you will have heat problems.
