X51 R2 GPU Undetected
Specs for my Alienware X51 R2:
Windows 7 64bit Service Pack 1
16GB RAM
Intel Core i7-4770 @3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 with 2GB GDDR5
(Reboot after every major step/installation & BSOD always accompanied by loud fan)
After a game was not running correctly, I decided to update my drivers for the GTX670 from the nvidia website (376.33). After that the game ran much better than before, but from there started the BSOD accompanied by the fan sounding similar to a vacuum cleaner. The BSOD occurs only when running any game that my system was previously able to run. After a bunch of searching around the internet for solutions, there were many that I tried.
One of the first solutions I tried was to revert back to my previous drivers (344.11). Now the same problem started happening on game launch. From another thread I found on the matter, I uninstalled all software and drivers for Nvidia, and installing the drivers I originally had (344.11) using custom settings: the drivers and physx. From what the post said, geforce experience and the 3d software create a lot of driver problems. After doing all this the problem did not change.
Uninstalled all the software for nvidia and this time I went into device manager and uninstalled the drivers there. After a reboot, tried to install the drivers, but my system is unable to detect the graphics card at all.
After re-plugging my power cord and rebooting, device manager showed my graphics card. Installed drivers through device manager to see if that might solve the problem. After another attempt at running a game that is not as graphic intensive, it still BSOD on startup. After the reboot, the card is gone from device manager again.
Since my graphics card fails to show up, another topic instructed opening up cmd and typing the show hidden devices command for device manager. After going to device manager and checking the show hidden devices, followed by scanning for any hardware changes many times, my system was still unable to detect my graphics card. There is an unknown device which I assume is the graphics card, but the driver software always fails to install for it.
Went to the Dell Support Site to get the drivers that were originally on my PC for both the GTX 670 and the Intel HD 4600 graphics as per suggestion from another thread. Reinstalled the Intel drivers, used the power cord method to force my system to show the GTX in device manager, installed the original drivers for it and rebooted. The graphics card was still there and deciding to test it on another game, BSOD problem still there. After a reboot, the graphics card is not being detected again.

Reseat NVidia card.
Check x51 BIOS for option to Enable/Disable on-board Intel GPU. Try it both ways. Be ready to use Intel-GPU's HDMI port temporarily to get it switched back.
See my later posts here about what driver to use on older cards and OSes.

I've found that with (especially) older cards ... the stable release driver released toward the end of that card's "retail sale run" ... during that 12-18 month time ... is usually the best one.

If you mean choosing between IGFX and Discrete in the Primary Display option in the BIOS, I have tried that. When using the Discrete option, neither HDMI port (2 of them, top and bottom) output a signal to my monitor. The only way to output any signal is by going back to defaults via the F9 key in the BIOS.
The 344.11 driver version in the OP fits your description for the stable driver and was the version my GPU was using before this whole mess happened.
That said, the problem still persists.
