100% CPU Utilization with windows XP
I recently purchased a Dimension 3000 from my father with a 2.6GHz P4 proc and 1Gb of memory, 80GB hard drive etc.
I am experiencing 100% cpu utilization with a fresh install of XP Home. The XP Home install seems to hang when I try to reload. Is a component failing?
I don't understand what is wrong please help.

Hi, pjcrux:
You need a utility called Process Explorer to see what program or process is using up your CPU cycles.
By the way, did you install drivers?

I had this problem with a homebuilt and Vista. The problem was due to an incompatible graphics card.
Have you added any extra hardware?
