1GB memory module not working

Question

Does anyone know why 1GB PC3200 CL2 memory module do not work in a Precision 450 ? I've tried with these one Corsair XMS CMX1024-3200C2PCT These module are obviously faster than required but I don't understand why faster memory wont work   Thanks Florent

Are you adding an additional 1GB module to the system? Or is it a pair of modules?

Memory modules must be compatible in specs with the system and must be installed in pairs.

Some systems will allow you to install higher memory frequency as long as the memory module configuration is compatible for the motherboard.

Yes I was adding memory modules by pair (2  x 1GB modules).   There must be something else than just frequency because slow PC3200 modules (CAS 3) work and fast (CAS 2) don't.   Florent
