Pretty much the exact same problem with an XPS Studio MT ordered on 2/22 and after several delivery date changes updated to a 3/31 delivery date. Dell support has been horrible constant transfers and disconnect at least 3 times. Then when you do get someone to talk to, they have no answers. Tried asking for a manger and they ignore you and will not get you to one. My issue is not the monitor since I ordered it separately two days later and had it in less than a week. I am now questioning my choice of going with Dell.
The same is here. I ordered Studio XPS on 2/17/2009. Today (03/25) I got the THIRD (!) order delay notification about another delay by another week (new date 04/08). What a great way of doing business!
ehindy09, have they shipped yours? or you are still waiting? Thank you
Ordered my studio xps 2/26. Expected delivery date still shows 3/24 (?). I just got off the phone with dell rep who said all he can see is that the new delivery date is 4/17. This is ridiculous. I have yet to get an email stating that I can cancel my order. I was told I would get one as soon as the original delivery date passed.
Also, at the time of my order there were no components listed as delayed.
Ordered from Canada.
Saying there is a backorder is all fine and good. The lack of communication regarding this is unacceptable. I should not have to phone in just to hear that meaningless script.
Bob and everybody else on the Island of Misfit Computers- No, I do not have my Studio PC yet. I received the dreaded and weekly "your order has been further delayed" email two days ago and needless to say, Groundhog Day is back. All that's missing is "I got you Babe" from Sonny and Cher. I spoke to service reps in customer service, sales and the dept you have to call to give them permission to continue with your order..They couldn't answer my questions...but all three of them DID inform me that I am getting a "really really good deal". They couldn't answer any specific questions on which parts are backordered/delayed, nor could I speak to a supervisor. It's almost as secretive as the Bush Administration, and me and the two other guys here at work that are waiting 2+ months for our systems are now thinking that something is wrong at Dell. Whether it's the economy or the fact there were layoffs that hampered production, the fact that we're getting no answers to our questions really gives me the feeling something is awry. I hope not, this was a solid top-notch company the last time we ordered PC's a few years back but the way this has been handled has left a very bad taste in my mouth.
P.S. loved the Seinfeld reference about the reservations!
I have ordered a Dell laptop three years ago and loved the customer service I recived as well as my computer arriving on time. I ordered a new laptop about a month ago and I do have to say I am very disapointed with how I am being treated. I have never in my life ordered something and not have it arrive within the time the sales reps say it would. I have had 4 delays now with a new ship date of 4/8. A month after I had ordered it! I also tryed speaking with someone about this with no answers as to why its taking so long. I asked for a manager, but they refused to give one. I asked to speak with the owner, again, they refused to give me the request. I even went back to speak with the sales rep I bought the computer from and all he had to say was "the way the economy is these days, you need to expect a delay". Then WHY didn't they tell me it would take this long when I ordered it? I asked for a discount since it is taking so long and alls I got was "well you can cancel your order". This is not a good way to do buisness.
Hey guys how about my original order date 2/9/09, i've had 4 delays. I order the xps 435 loaded. I called to inquire about what box i'm getting because i don't want a mini-tower (mt) . i was assured that i'm getting the NEW pearl colored xps435t box however when i called yesterday the CS rep could not tell me what i'm actually going to receive. I told the CS i will return the system if i receive the black box shown on the website which is a mini-tower, there's no way i want a mini-tower with the specs i chose. I just wish i could find out when i'm going to actually get a system and what i'm going to get. My NEW delivery date is now 4/7.
"See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don’t know how to *hold* the reservation and that’s really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them."
One option is to check out the various configurations of the Studio XPS 435MT available at costco.com, which is where I got mine. Prices are good and include a 2-year premium service warranty and a 90-day return option.
Hi, new Dell customer, just curious if this is normal. Ordered on 2/10 and my delivery has been delayed every week now reflecting 3/31. I'm anticipating an April delivery date shortly. When I inquire what the reason is for the delay, the service reps read from a scripted note card and don't offer detailed info on which part is back-ordered, can I modify my order for a part that is in stock..etc. I've never experienced anything like this, anybody else waiting this long for their order as well?
Hi Ehindy09. I have to tell you I am currently on hold with Dell and have been for almost 1 hour. My XPS desktop has been delayed 3 weeks It was supposed to be here on 12/16 it is now delayed till 1/4 that is after NEW YEARS! DELL SUCKS!
Here is a quote from the customer relations after " I am sorry we are not able to offer compensation. Dell doesn't offer compensation"
I only wish I had read these forums before I tried to purchase my Studio PC.
I ordered my PC on Nov 7th, with an estimated delivery of Nov 29th. I initially thought that over 20 days was a bit long, but boy, did I underestimate the incompetence of Dell!
The first delay came on Nov 28th, pushing the delivery date back to Dec 7, then it was the 16th (guaranteed by the CS rep over the phone), then it was Dec 29, then Jan 4, and finally yesterday, Jan 7th.
At that point, I'd had it. I was furious and I had them cancel my order.
I went to a competitor (that rhymes with newlet lackerd) and created a machine that was better than the Dell I ordered way back in November for almost the same money. And guess what; it shipped TODAY! One day turnaround for a CUSTOM built computer is what I would expect when I'm spending this kind of money.
I was a Dell fan until this latest experience. They will not be getting my business any longer.

ehindy09,
There are backlogs from the manufacturer on the hard disk drives and certain monitors.

ehindy09, thank you!
"Really really good deal"? Uncle Bernie Madoff used the same approach: just send a statement with a very nice balance :)
I decided to OK this delay, but over weekend I'll check local stores for Gateway's i7 (they are a bit more expensive but maybe they actually exist).
