3DMark Score

I just ran 3DMark06 and although I'm not that knowledgable on what a really good score is, mine seems kinda low. I know it may partially be due to the ram being ddr2-667. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

cant do that on a 710 :smileymad:

the higest I seem to recall were in the low 18k's but that was with a QX6850 on a h2c system with 800mhz ram.

Thats a very good score for your rig. you will not get much more out of the current config. I would be happy with that score

I about this in another forum...

Your score is really good for a XPS710! 2x video cards etc... Anything over 8000 screams along just fine.

heres what I have written elsewhere:

Post 1:

Hi everyone, I just got my XPS730 3 Days ago!

i still have the covering on the brushed aluminium lol

Anyway, its not a bad little set up (actually its huge in size) compared to my dell dimension 9150 pentium D 3.2ghz 7800tgx 256mb.

I got a:

- q9450 (finally, a quad!)

- 4gb 1333mhz ram

- 9800 gt

- 24in ultra screen

- ultimate vista

Any ideas on what Id get roughly on 3d mark06 (being conservative)?

And what you would do (bang for buck) to increase ze power?!

Any tips or info you have from your own setups/scores would appreciated.

"its beautiful!"

OK Now post 2:

Very odd, I actually had no short cuts on my desktop besides "ebay".

Anyways, I got 3dMark06 and ran it.

I can conclude with the following results over three runs.

First run: 11987

Second run was worse? thats a first for me, everything else I have run it on gets better usually.. anyways that was 11946 - I even ended some processes and closed sidebar on vista??

So I restarted the computer so I could do the test one last time with everything running and no shortcuts and I got a healthy 12153! Im happy with that score considering what specs I have.

This is without any overclocking of anything.

I guess the beauty is I have the option of going bigger ona few things (overclocking etc) and on the video card - or getting three of them:)

Apparently we can even just sub in some QX processors?

Hate to burst your bubble BW but to me your score is a bit on the low side I get almost 12k on my rig and now where near your specs

Nah bro it's all good.. I came from a non XPS computer in the dimension 9150 that scored 3905 at best, and MACBOOK PRO 2.4ghz running XP PRO that got 4150 -to an XPS 730 - bro -the way my computer looks and lights up now is so nice!

A 1000W power supply, SLI 790 ultra mobo, DDR3 ram, and chipset that can cop qx9770's... (edit)wow!! I am set for a while - the point is I wanted to spend as little as possible on the CPU and VID card and spent more money on the things like the blu ray, 24 ultra screen, TV tuner and (edit)stuff like that.

Im very excited about the fact that I can choose my video cards when they drop in price a bit. I might have to go the GTX260's in SLI or even some 9800tgx's would be great.. cause around easter they'll be cheap!!

Also Im running VISTA 32bit... So another thing to increase my score would be to consider getting the 64bit edition maybe get a few hundred extra.

I must say though, some peoples scores are getting very impressive, with CPU/RAM/VID CARD OC's and cooling etc.. people getting the 20000 scores... (edit)nice!

I am not saying your score is no good but to me I would expect at least 15-18k with your system. My score doubled when I swithed my video card from a 7900GTS to this 8800GTS.

You may be correct in that Vista 32 is your bottleneck at the moment as I went from XP MCE to Vista 64 without stopping at 32 bit.
