3rd message today - this time, system setup

I bought a Dell computer and have Windows XP professional installed. I realise now that it is meant to be for a small business, however I am a single user and not a network. Can anyone tell me how I should set the system up for the single user arrangement, i.e. which system files/programs should alter or stop etc?
