710 H2C cpu temps?

Please post yout H2C cpu temps here, Im interested to see them after reading this on a review site

"we put the H2C system to the test. First we measured the CPU's temperature (while factory overclocked to 3.2GHz) to be about 40C under load when the ambient room temperature was a comfortable 22C. Then we changed into T-shirts and artificially increased the ambient temperature to about 30C with a space heater. We recorded the CPU's temperature to be 44C under load, only a 4 degree increase despite the 8 degree increase in ambient temperature."

However looking in Ntune on my H2C it shows an Idle of 43-47c Idle!!!! and this room is very cool.

Anyone?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IDLE:

Mine CPU 43-47c / SYSTEM 28-32c / GPU 55c
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was hoping for better than this? whats going on the artical says 40 underload, this is my Idle temps.

can you post your idle H2c temps please.

download and install Ntune

Then restart your computer and press f2 and enter the bios, in there enable overclocking from off to on, then save and exit on re-boot enter ntune and it will also now list the cpu temp data.

mmmm

my h2c temps

TAT 58c idle (nightmare)under load 80+
Core Temp: 56c Idle (nightmare)under load 80+
Ntune : 45c Idle underload 60+

this is off the chart, and not a good thing after banging on about the cooler in this pc, this one is getting swapped out in a couple of weeks as it has a fault, we will see what the new ones temps are like. (the fault is nothing to do with cooler)

I know it takes a while (sometimes 200hrs) for the thermal paste to work correctly, sometimes knocking off 5-10c, but still!!!

Folks should also report what tool they are using to measure temps.  I posted on the other thread an explanation of TCase vs. Tjunction temps, and what CoreTemp reads is TJunction.

Mine idles at 50C and goes up to 80C under 100% load using CoreTemp/Intel TAT.

Using NTune, it goes up to 65C under load, idles around 35-40.

Won't that void my warranty though since I would have to enable over clocking?

well you have to except the agreement which i havent touched, i have only used it to check the cpu temp.

Read page 137 in you dell book.

I just read it and it din't really say much, especially about voiding my warranty.

Then you are good to go! :smileyvery-happy:

Even if you enable overclocking, there isn't much you can do to harm your system.  Dell has locked down the BIOS and left very few options available.  So you can't mess with voltage and such.  Besides, if all you are going to do is monitor temperatures with nTune, there is nothing to worry about.

Out of curiosity, if I change my cpu speed will that void my warranty?

I dont think so.  If they enabled the option in BIOS it was because they wanted you to have the option.  If you have problems, the first thing they will do is make sure everything is back to stock - they won't support you trying to troubleshoot overclocking problems.  And that's the first thing you should do anyway when troubleshooting your PC, even before you call for support.

Oh ok I was just making sure because I don't want to void my warranty especially because I bought 3 years extend warranty and have my 6g computer break down and not have a warranty for doing something like that.

I'm not impressed with my H2C cooling so far. Its very noisey, and in a cool room, is idling at 45c, and using Intel TAT, I managed to get two of the cores up to 91c :smileysad:

yes I'm hoping someone from dell will help us with these questions about temps on the cpu, all dell have really said is its 9c cooler than air, not what air? mine reports temps much higher than they should be too.

Any help here chris with normal temps on the cpu for the h2c?.

would be nice.

I'm particularly unimpressed, as I built a QX6700 system for a friend of mine a couple of months ago, and with it overclocked at 3.2GHz, it never went above 75c, even with all 4 cores at 100%. And this was in an Antec Solo, using a Thermalright Ultra-120 and Nexus quiet 120mm fan. Nothing overly advanced.

Surely the H2C's cooling should beat that? Particularly as that was very quiet and my H2C is very noisy :smileymad:

Its important to also state what software you are using to measure temps, because that will have an impact on the readings.

With the other poster, reaching 91C with Intel TAT is pretty bad.  Did it stay there long?  Did the H2C fan turn on?  I left TAT running at 100% for about ten minutes.  After a minute the CPU fan kicked into high gear (VERY noisy), but the CPU started to cool down from the 85C max it reported for a second or two, down to the mid-high 70s.  Since TAT is reading TJunction temperatures, the max is 100C.

I was running nTune monitor at the same time, and it never exceeded 65C.  I think nTune is reading TCase temperatures.  I dont know for sure, but it makes sense.
