Accessing C: from DOS

I have a new Dell 8250 with Windows XP Pro. I booted from a floppy into DOS 6.22 to test some hardware. But when I typed C:, I got error message "Invalid Drive Specification."   Does anyone have an idea as to how I can access the HD from DOS 6.22?

                                                   Thanks, CMA

The HDD is an NTFS volume. You will not be able to access it from DOS (which only understands FAT).

Along with what has been said, Windows XP is not a DOS based system and only has very limited DOS support.  If you have a lot of older DOS and older Windows programs they may not work or work correctly with the new Windows XP.

The older Windows 9X/Me Operating Systems are basically a DOS system with a graphical interface to replace the C prompt.
