Adding Intel Solid State Drive to New Precision T5600
Hello,
I have ordered a new Precision T5600 that is scheduled to arrive Mon.! I plan to install an Intel 520 series SSD as the boot drive. The T5600 is coming w/ a 2TB,SATA,3.5",7200,64M Hard Drive. My question is will there be additional SATA III connection connection cables and an additional SATA power cable for the empty hard drive bay for me to hook up the SSD to, or will I need to purchase these over the weekend?
I greatly appreciate any advice anyone has to offer!

Likely there won't be a spare SATA cable but there should be a spare power cable.

If you order a T5600 with 1 drive and the H310 controller card it will come with the following (at least the ones we have ordered do):
1 H310 Card with a proprietary cable with ports for 2 SATA HDDs
2 SATA HDD Power plugs that plug into the proprietary cable to provide power
3 Standard SATA cables that are plugged in to the motherboard. One is connected to SATA0 and runs to the Optical Drive. The Other two are connected to HDD0 and HDD1 and run over by the HDD bays, but are not connected to anything.
2 3.5" (or 2.25") HDD carriers depending on what size the single drive you ordered was. If your drive was a 3.5" drive, make sure you get the 520 SSD Kit that comes with the cables, screws, and drive bracket or else you will need to buy a 2.25" to 3.5" drive bracket adapter.
The one thing I can't figure out about the T5600 is what the heck the HDD0-HDD4 motherboard ports do. They don't show up in BIOS and any SATA drives I plug in do not show up. Maybe they are somehow enabled if you get the H710 controller? It sucks that there seems to be only 2 enabled onboard SATA ports, as I would prefer not to use the H310 card since it takes up a PCIe slot...
