adding memory
hi i was going to buy another 512mb ram for my dimension 4550, but i saw a pic and the little nodule/slot thing wasnt in the middle, it was off center, and when i looked at the slot in side my computer it looks to be center, now am i being stupid or does the little slot thing need to be centerd. or did my eyes decieve me and the nodule isnt cented in the free slot in my pc

The slot is slightly off center. It is most apparent when you look at the memory module. If you take out one of the memory moduels that are in your system, you will see that the slot is just off center. When you are looking at the black memory slot, it is not so easy to see that it is just off center.
